Logos for the band - Alex

Image
As our band is highly influenced by pop/disco/funk bands such as Jimmy Hendrix, The Bee Gee's and The Jackson 5. Both of us enjoyed the vibrant colours that the 1970's time period entailed such as the use of bright colours and neon styled lights; as a result of the implementation of these colours in our logo they will gain and grab the attention of target audience that we have studied and researched from our questionnaire that we conducted. Furthermore we chose to use the name 'Funky Fros' for our band as the words roll of the tongue and is a very catchy band name; also 'Funky Fros' is a play on words as instead of 'Bros' we chose 'Fros' to help link with the 1970's style of fashion as giant Afros were seen as the norm as were very trendy. We presented both band logos towards our chosen audience and alos the candidates that participated with our questionnaire; after viewing both logos the majority of our votes chose the first logo as i...

Questionnaire - Sam

Image
We have created this questionnaire to help us to understand what kind of target audience we are looking to attract with our music video. Judging by the song choices we have made we will be attracting older people however, this questionnaire will help us to find out if that is true. It will help to get an idea of how well our concept will be received. We will distribute this to 20 people to gain further feedback and we will create a series of charts and analyse the data to assist with the making of our video.

Plan of Action - Alex

To easily structure our group blog work we both decided to conduct and produce a production log which helps highlight which person is responsible for the task and for them to complete it by a specific time; due to this both of us can visualise when the work has to be completed at a high standard. The production log is a table that categorises each task for us and entails different box titles such as prompts for the certain task and another box that we can draw in a mark/tick to know that we have definitely completed the task. The first two weeks of this half term has been categorised to involve the planning aspect of our group music video production; then week 3 to 5 helps us focus more on the filming side of our music video plus a little planing corresponding and we will alternate between each section during these upcoming weeks. Finally week 6 to 9 will make us focus on the editing of our music video and how we want our music video to look and represent, these final weeks are very ...

Moodboard Ideas + Fashion - Alex

Image
A mood board is extremely useful for establishing the aesthetic feel of the overall atmosphere and layout of my music video. The use of a mood board helps to visualise and structure the specific clothing and colours that were associated in the 1970's e.g open shirts with a big collar and also chino/suit pants that are high waisted. As the style of clothing is retro and vintage we will be travelling to different locations such as second hand shops and charity shops to help us afford an outfit that will appeal and correspond to our desired atmosphere of funk in our music video. At first we planned to not use any green-screen but because of some problems that we encountered we ended up having to use a lot of green-screen but we feel that it turned out very well. However, we did not want to video all of it using green-screen so we used parts of our school where it was quite for our videoing.

Song In The Media - Sam

Image
The song 'Stayin Alive' by The Bee Gee's was originally made for the film 'Saturday Night Fever' which was released on the 23rd of March 1978. The image above is a screenshot of the scene in which the song is used in the film. This song has been used in numerous TV adverts such as Mercedes-Benz in 2011 and the British Heart Foundation in 2012, this shows that the song is very popular to be used by these massive companies.

Initial Idea - Alex

As we have been researching and planning for the type of song we want to create, we decided to use the famous and popular pop song 'Stayin Alive' by The Bee Gee's. As this song is catchy and well known we wanted to implement and create a music video for this song as the style of 70's with vibrant colour costumes and outfit appealed and interested us. We was highly influenced by the style and atmosphere that is created in 1970's cop shows such as Chips and Kojak, the narrative of our music video will be involve a hint of both genres with the music video 'Stayin Alive' and the characteristics of cop shows in the 70's.

Copyright Post - Sam & Alex

Image
The image above highlights the email that Alex has sent to the distribution/copyright owner of the song that we have chosen for our media studies coursework; in this instance we have chosen the song 'Stayin Alive' by the Bee Gee's. Furthermore the use of these images convey the research into the production companies that we had to know in order to attain the copyright permission to be able to post our music video on Blogger. This image is proof of the email that Sam sent to the same music record company. Since both of us have sent an email requesting permission to use the song 'Stayin Alive' it will higher our chances of the request being accepted.
